Windows 8.1 build 9477 gets sent out to partners

EnglishBlogVN -
Windows 8.1 is almost done! On 11 August 2013, build 9477 was sent out to selected Microsoft partners for testing, allowing them to implement it on hardware designed for the new Windows 8.1 update. More so, it appears Windows 8.1 has entered the RTM escrow development stages, meaning the operating system is complete feature wise, and the main focus now is bug fixing and tweaking before compiling the final build.

For those who don’t know what RTM escrow is, it’s a development stage at Microsoft that stops the development of any new features and focuses on what they already have. From this point onwards, new features will not be added to the operating system.

Windows 8.1 is expected to RTM within days for a possible release on MSDN next week. It’s a very exciting time for Windows users who will be receiving this update for free later in the year. MSDN and TechNet subscribers are expected to get the download first, and eventually will be pushed to the Windows Store, however no time frame has been given.

Keep an eye out as we expect Microsoft to announce the Windows 8.1 RTM pretty soon
